Click here to comment on the Tigers' great season!

The University of Memphis Tigers season ended a little earlier than most of us would have liked, in the Elite Eight.

But rememer, they were the Conference USA regular season and tournament champs, they won 33 games, and got the school's first ever number 1 NCAA seed.

So take a minute, and send us your thoughts on the Tigers to tigerfans@wmctvcontact.com and we'll post them here.

Maybe it will help us all remember that the Tigers will always be our champions!

I will always say GO Tigers!  I am so proud of this team that no one gave credit to at the beginning of the season and look where they ended up. Conf. champs, league champs, and in the elite eight.  The best is yet to come in 2007.  Please stay Darious and Shawne.  Rodney you have a great career ahead of you and I will follow your NBA career too.  Thank you too Coach.....What a GREAT year!!!!!!

--------------------------------------

I hope our young tigers do what is best for them.  But in the same thought I can’t help but think how awesome they would be if they stayed one more year with Coach Cal.  If he has helped them this much, what else does he have to offer?  I believe it is a wealth of knowledge that can only be learned at this level - - at the next it is a different story.

Carney and Willliams should be very proud to be part of such a great event.  Tigernation has not been this strong in quite a few years and the gentlemen are the ones that helped bring bag the swagger to the Memphians.

--------------------------------------

I want thank you for the wonderful season that you had this year and hope the next year is going to be better , I just hope that all the players come back that’s suppose to come by next year .Rodney I wish you the best in your future at the next level and thank you for the four years that was at Memphis U. don’t be a stranger ,hey can you imagine this you playing for the Memphis Grizzles that would be great.

--------------------------------------

I and my 23 month old daughter enjoyed the Tigers games.  We both enjoyed the ball action and wished they were able to go further.  But there is always next year, they can only get better.  It was a lot of fun and exciting to watch everyone play so well together.  We can’t wait till next year.

--------------------------------------

I graduated from the U of M in 2001 and now live in Chicago, and I've never been so excited and so proud of our team.  They really looked good this year.  We may have the beginning of a powerhouse program on our hands.  It's exciting.  Thanks to all the players for their long hours and hard work and thanks to Coach Calipari for bringing tiger pride back to Memphis.

--------------------------------------

I just hope you all realize how well you actually did this season. Everyone has a bad day once in awhile, and you will note that all of the remaining No. 1 seeds fell at the same time, during the Elite 8.  I am very proud of this team, and Coach Cal was ahead of his time playing "difficult" teams for non-conference, which got us that first time number one seed.  Great year in my opinion.  Please keep up the great work.

--------------------------------------

I can't begin to put into words how special our Tigers are to their fans.  They have set school records, Conference records  and played spectacularly in the NCAA tournament.  I wish Rodney and Waki all the best in the future.  Rodney, you can't know what you have meant to us.  You have the potential to be the next Michael Jordan and don't you ever forget that we love you.  Darius and Shawne, your options for the future are many.  I just hope you decide to stay and make 2007 an even greater year.  Our Tigers have much more greatness to attain.

--------------------------------------

HOW ABOUT THOSE TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!! This was a great season our freshmen got a good taste of March Madness. This year is only the start! Coach Cal is going to turn us into a national powerhouse in the next few years!

--------------------------------------

To the Tigers, want to let you know how Proud we are, you fought a good fight, so walk with your heads held up high, look forward to next year (2007), Memphis was spotlighted by your just being in the tournament, we gained plenty of coverage for our great city.

--------------------------------------

What a GRRRRRRRRRRRRRREAT year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even though Sat.night didn't go as well as expected, we are SO proud of all of you TIGERS> Rodney, will miss your INdianopolis salute, we w ill be keeping you in our hearts and will be watching you on T.V. in the N.B.A. (hopefully in a Grizzlies uniform) Please, the rest of you Tigers, stay on and  win the BIG ONE for us next year.We love you too, Couch.

--------------------------------------

I would like to say CONGRATS TIGERS!! for going this far in the playoffs. I am proud of all of you and your coach. Continue to strive and no matter what ,don't give up the struggle to continue to be your BEST for the next season. God Bless all of you. Hold your heads up!! Memphis loves you no matter what.

--------------------------------------

Thank you Coach Cal and the Memphis Tiger Basketball Team.  I don't know what we will do now at night, now  that Basketball has ended for the Tigers.  We have had a many of parties in my den and kitchen this year.  Yall were a GREAT TEAM.  I am so glad that we have a TEAM of TIGERS that play as a TEAM and get along.  It seemed that other teams in the NCAA playoff's always centered their winnings around ONE certain person. We truly have a TEAM of PLAYERS that play together and WIN together.  Good Luck to Carney, and I hope the rest of the team sticks together and returns for the 2006 - 2007 season.  Next year this Tiger team will TAKE IT ALL!

--------------------------------------

For a young team to show so much courage and talent was true image of a tiger.  They got nervous and fell short since they were not very experienced and had huge desire to win.  Sometimes you have to enjoy match too.  There was pretty much no smile on anyone’s face, just if they had relaxed a little bit, their feet would have moved much better like they did whole year.  Still very proud of the team.  They brought lots of joy to many throughout the nation.
-------------------------------------

Our Tigers were great this year.  They fought a long, hard battle and though they might have lost to UCLA they were still winners.  The best record in the history of the school is nothing to be sad about.   They were great to watch.  Fast-break basketball at its best.  Their quickness remined me of the Boston Celtics back when John Havalcek, Dave Cowens and Jo-Jo White were playing.

Guys, you gave us a lot of thrills and much to be proud of-JOB WELL DONE.

-----------------------------------

Let's  Count Our Blessings!!!!!!! The best is yet to come "2007"  If this team stay together.

-----------------------------------

I think that the people of Memphis should be very proud of our Tigers.  (I am). We had a bad night and it happens like Coach said it was fun while it lasted and we are very proud.!!!!!

I say good luck to Carney and thanks for all you contributed this year!!

-----------------------------------

I really enjoyed watching the Tigers this year.  I attended quite a few games this year.  I really thought we could have gone all the way.  It just wasn't meant to be.  The Tigers should take this experience and build on it for the next few years.  I have been a Tiger fan for years.  After Larry Finch was fired, I had kind of distanced myself away from the team.  I am angry at myself for missing the first two years of Rodney's career.  What he did on the court was nothing short of amazing.  I hate to see him go but I definitely will be following his NBA career!  Good luck Rodney and Waki.  Waiting on the Tigers to arrive home was a great experience.  Interacting with the team made me forget how cold it was out there.  Coach Cal is the best coach in college basketball.  The man truly speaks the truth.  The Tigers have nothing to hang their heads about.  We proved a lot of people wrong and next year is going to be better.

The team that we all ready have in place and the incoming freshman class is destined for reatness.  I am making plans to become a season ticket holder.

-----------------------------------

Hey tigers, my name is Josh and I am a student at Westwood High . I want to thank you guys for the great season. I know next year we are going to win the championship hands down. Just keep up the good work, this town appreciates you guys very much. Thank you!

PS - Darious and Shawn please consider coming back next year. You can't leave without getting a ring, we have unfinished business to take care of.

-----------------------------------

Well for me this season was so special. I'm only 20 so I wasn't around for the ' 73 team or the 85 team. So this season will forever be my favorite. I will never forget the players on this team and how well this team gelled. They never once argued with one another and stayed out of trouble all year except for one incident. I was crushed last night when the game was over. Just seeing Rodney  bent over at halfcourt brought back memories of Darius last year. I'm still shocked from the outcome I haven't really talked much about the game since last night. I just want to say Rodney and Waki we'll miss you next year. To Darius and Shawne I really hope yall come back, because the team could be a force next year. All in all what a season yall pur Tiger basketball on the map and for 3 weeks brought the city of memphis together as one. Thanks for the ride this year and Go Tigers!!!!!!!!!!

-----------------------------------

Thank Coach Cal and the Tigers for a great season, everyone should be proud of what they accomplshed. It was great to see them prove the critics wrong and making the city proud of them and the great accomplishment of making the elite eight. Thank you Tigers.

-----------------------------------

Thank you for putting Memphis in the National spotlight for the first time in years.  I do not consider myself to be a regular basketball (or any sports) fan, but I found myself glued to every game and glad to see Memphis getting the recognition and chance it deserves.

I wish only the best of luck to each team member.

-------------------------------

you all should be proud of your memphis team.from a razorback fan,i was strongly supporting our  neighbors across the river to beat ucla and go all the way.now lets all get together and let L.S.U. hear us and keep it close to home

------------------------------

I have to say that in my forty years of watching theTigers I have never enjoyed a team as much as I have this one. I am so proud of them for the season they have given their fans. I will always have a special love for them since my dear Mother passed away a month ago and we watched every game together. This was the last one we will ever get to enjoy together. As far as the game today goes. Where did they get the officials at the zoo? How could they play with the refs trying to foul out the whole team right off the bat. And another thing - what pressure this situation was for such a young team. They were in a hostile building also. I couldn't be any prouder of them. Hey Jerry West you better grab Rodney in the draft because he will be a great addition to any pro team! GO TIGERS!!!!!

------------------------------

Thanks for a great season. We don't blame any of you, we thank you. I just feel so sorry for you as a senior. Don't hold your head down, and don't blame yourself. Your a HERO in my book.

------------------------------

I am so proud of the Tigers.  They gave us a wonderful season and lots of memories.  We will come back stronger and better next season.  It was not our time, but our time will come.  I would like to say "Thank you" to Coach Calipari and his staff for a job well done.  Thank you to all the players....what a ride you gave the fans.  To my favorite Tiger Senior Rodney Carney  "Thank you for 4 great years and all the memories you leave with us".  Good luck in the next chapter in your life.  God Bless each of you.  Dont hold your heads down, hold them high with pride for we are the U of M Tigers.  GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO TIGERS!!!!!

------------------------------

What a heartbreaker, yep I cried my eyes out but I want each and every Tiger player to know how very proud we are of them. Everyone has an off day, even the best of the best do as we've seen during this whole tournament.

So, chin up Tigers!! You have every reason to be as proud of yourselves as we are of you. Don't hang your heads low, you guys had a great year, and don't let one bad night ruin the year. I know it was a tough loss but we'll see you again, I know we will. You are the best to all of us here in Memphis!!

------------------------------

This truly has been one of the best teams the Tigers have seen in years, dating back to Anfernee; and I am so proud of them!!! They proved the critcs wrong, not once but thrice and that is commendable and enough right there. They brought home the C-USA Championship and out of hundreds of schools only 32 danced, but they were elite; and that is something to be said!!!

Carney and Waki will be missed next season, but this team will go in history books and will remain #1 in the city's heart.

The saying goes, "good things must come to an end." Well I like to say, "greatness never ends" and the tigers truly achieved greatness this year. GO TIGERS GO!!! GOD bless Carney as he ventures into the NBA this year!!!

------------------------------

Wise men say...only fools rush in....but I can't...help...falling in love...with you!!!!

------------------------------

To the U of M tiger basketball team. Thanks for a job well done! Keep your heads up and better things are expected next season.

------------------------------

I am a 1987 graduate of then Memphis State. I am and always will be proud of the Tigers. They played great this year and deserve the best. Keep it up guys.  You are still Conf Champs!!!!!

------------------------------

Guys you have given us so much excitment and joy this year.  Yes for a brief time this town forgot about being black and white and the only color we thought of was blue, Tiger blue.  Congratulations on a great season and the memories.  You made history this year here in Memphis.   We are so proud of all of you.  Once again thanks for the memories.

------------------------------

I am a 1978 alumni of the U of M.  I have never been prouder than now to say that. I have followed the basketball team on and off all of this 2005/2006 season.  What a great bunch of guys that made up this team!  They should feel good.  Hats off to Coach Cal, the other coaches, and the players.  They have made all of Memphis P-R-O-U-D!

------------------------------

Though the Tigers lost to UCLA, the Tigers are still number 1 in Memphis.  They are still champions and have had the best season this year they have ever had.  The Tigers don't need to be sorry for losing tonight.  They can hold their heads up in pride and be proud for what they have done this year.

THANKS TIGERS FOR A WINNING SEASON THIS YEAR!!!!!

------------------------------

We are very proud of you for all you have given us. You fought against a lot of striped pressure. We are still proud and thank you for a great season. For Carney we will miss your dramatics in Memphis but we know there's something better for you in the NBA. Don't forget about us when you start making the big bucks. GO TIGERS, even though you were robbed you are NCAA champs in our books.

------------------------------

I think back to the UAB game when Coach Cal said something to the effect that if you are a true Tiger fan, you hurt. Well, as proud as I am of the Tigers and as well as they have played all year, tonight I hurt! I have thoroughly enjoyed the ride but I wasn't quite ready for it to end! What a year it has been! Thanks guys for all of the fun and all of the smiles!

------------------------------

I just want the Tigers to know that their fans are very proud of what they've accomplished! I know tonight's loss was sad that UCLA got us again, but we could not be any more hopeful for the future. They brought a lot of people of Memphis together for a common goal.

------------------------------

I am absolutely, positively very proud of MY TIGERS. What a great year, for a great team. Not to single any one player out of all the great players, but I really like the hustle of Mr. Allen. He charged the net like a Tiger and played like all the others, with heart and soul. God Bless everyone on the team, Coach Cal, you're a  WINNER. We love you and the GREAT TEAM you coach.
