Campus anti-abortion display sparks outrage

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - An graphic anti-abortion display on the University of Memphis campus sparked outrage and protests this week.

It compared abortion to lynching, the Holocaust and the Rwandan genocide.

The display outside the University Center showed pictures of aborted fetuses next to photos of a man hanging in a tree, dead children in piles of rubble and a mass grave.

The display was sponsored by the groups College Republicans and Tigers 4 Christ.

Four university police officers were posted nearby and one person was cited Monday for throwing tomatoes at the photos.

The Center for Bio-Ethical Reform has taken the display to about 50 colleges nationwide since 1998.
