Huckabee signs workplace smoking ban

LITTLE ROCK (AP) - Governor Huckabee has signed a bill that bans workplace smoking in Arkansas.

The House and the Senate gave final approval today to the bill, sending it to the governor.

The bill was amended to allow an exemption for smaller hotels and motels -- a change that some of the bill's backers felt threatened passage. But both the House and the Senate approved the amended version, which was good enough for Huckabee, who backed the original version.

The Arkansas Hospitality Association and some small businesses have opposed the workplace smoking ban.
