Day two the NFL draft snags a second Memphis Tiger. The New England Patriots selected place kicker Stephen Gostkowski. in the 4th round, with the 118th pick overall. Gostkowski was the NCAA's active leader in career field goals last year with 70 and was perfect on extra points, making 35 of 35. He's the first kicker drafted in 2006, a somewhat rare feat. Best of all, he'll play for a top notch organization and coach Bill Belicheck.
"Just knowing that I'm going into an organization that has been winning and winning superbowls is a dream come true. Something like that will make me work even harder because those guys who've been busting their butts up there don't want a rookie coming in and miss a game winning kick. I just have to go up there and work as hard as I can to earn a spot on the team."
Now that Adam Viniteri is gone, Gostkowski will compete against Martin Grammatica for place kicking duties.
