Sidney Chism won a decisive victory his opponent Cleo Kirk, the incumbent, in Tuesday night's primary election. It was an unusual race, where Kirk would not have been able to retain his seat if he won because of term limits.
Kirk watched the returns at his headquarters knowing he had lost overwhelmingly. He had hoped to win, and then influence who the Democratic party chose for the seat because he couldn't take office.
"I gave the people an option to have a choice in choosing my opponent, and I didn't have a problem with that," Kirk said
Chism said he was very happy about the results and was looking forward to working with his fellow commissioners.
