Baby, two adults from New York killed in Tennessee crash

JACKSON, Tenn. (AP) - The Tennessee Highway Patrol reports a sport utility vehicle ran off Interstate 40 in western Tennessee, killing three people from the New York City area.*

Troopers say the Dodge Durango was eastbound halfway between the Tennessee River and Jackson when it ran off the right side of road and struck a bridge pier head-on.*

Driver Jannaer Brown of Queens Village, New York, was killed. So were her passengers, Tamitra Washington and her one-year-old son, Jahmere Washington, both from Far Rockaway, New York.*

The Patrol's investigation into the crash yesterday showed both women were wearing seat belts and the child was in a restraint seat, which was being used properly.*
