The Memphis Tigers have wasted no time re-stocking the cupboard now that Shawne Williams and Darius Washington are headed to the NBA. Iowa State freshman Shawn Taggert will wear the Blue and Grey next season. The 6'10" forward flew into Memphis this evening to sign the paper work. As one of the biggest recruits ever signed at Iowa State, Taggert battled a stomach virus this season and had a disappointing debut, averaging 6 points and 4 rebounds per game. When his coach Wayne Morgan was fired, he decided to fly the coop to Memphis. He originally turned the Tigers down in 2004, but not anymore.
"As soon as I wanted to transfer, I was like, I hope Memphis takes me, I hope Memphis takes me. I don't think anyone's seen the real Shawn Taggert in college basketball yet."
Taggert will have to sit out a year, but that's okay with him. He wants to be on a running type team.
