The Quickest Way Home: Downtown Memphis to Southaven, MS

Action News 5 wants to know the best routes around Memphis. Each Tuesday in May we'll start three crews at one location and send them to one destination. Each crew will take a different route. It's part of an experiment to find the Quickest Way Home.

On Tuesday, May 9, our crews tried to find the quickest way from downtown Memphis to Southaven, MS. The starting point: Tom Lee Park, the destination: The Wal-Mart Supercenter on Goodman Road.

Action news 5's Kym Clark followed Riverside Drive until it became I-55. She took the interstate south to get to Goodman Road. Kym made the trip in 22 minutes and 48 seconds. She would have gotten to Wal-Mart in Southaven even faster but she missed her exit and had to turn around.

Nick Paranjape found the quickest way home Tuesday. He made it from downtown Memphis to the Wal-Mart in Southaven in 20 minutes and 41 seconds. Nick took Riverside Drive north to Union Avenue. From there he followed I-240 south to I-55 south. Nick also took the Goodman Road exit.

Ron Childers was our wild card. He took a route sent in by an Action News 5 viewer. Ron drove north on Riverside to Union Avenue then took I-240 south. Ron took the Nashville exit and continued to follow I-240 toward the airport. He got off on the Airways exit and followed Airways all the way to Goodman Road. Ron's total trip time was just under 35 minutes.
