It's not even June yet, and it's getting hard to come up with new storylines for the Memphis Redbirds. It's been a rough start? They've been over matched early? They try hard? Maybe you have one. Coming off an 11-nothing pounding at the hands of Portland last night, the Birds are already 15 games under .500. But something fun happened Saturday night at AutoZone Park.
One on, One out in the bottom of the 9th, the Redbirds down 1-0 and Timo Perez came up HUGE. He laced one just inside the right field foul pole. It was a pinch hit walk-off home run to give the Redbirds a 2-1 win and snap a 5 game losing streak.
Maybe this will be the spark they need to get going.
