U of M Twirler Goes International

You may know baton twirling as just a feature at college football games.

But if April Glisson has her way, twirling could be the next Olympic sport.

The University of Memphis sophomore was just named Golden Girl of the Tigerettes and now has her sights set on the international level...The World Championships of Baton Twirling.

As one of just 10 majorettes from across the country chosen for the elite team, April will travel to Rome in August to represent the US against nearly 20 other countries.

A prestigious honor and a first for any Tiger twirler.

That means finding the means to send April halfway around the world.

Long time Tigerettes sponsor, King Cotton Meat Products, has offered to match dollar for dollar any public donations given to help send this top twirler to Italy.

If you'd like to help send April to the World Championships, donations can be made at any First Tennessee Bank, care of the April Glisson Team USA Fund.
