UT graduates get diplomas in the dark

There was no air conditioning and only emergency lighting during the University of Tennessee Health Science Center's graduation at the Mid-South Coliseum.

"We were disappointed when we were lining up, but eventually we all just kind of kept a positive attitude...despite everything," said Dr. Olayemi Olorunniwo, who graduated today.

Three-hundred and forty Bartlett High School graduates are scheduled to get their diplomas at seven at the Coliseum. Coliseum officials are working to fix the problem, but advise graduates and their families to dress light and comfortably.
