Anyone who drove in Tunica County this past weekend saw deputies watching closely for seat belt violations.
Commander Eugene Payne with the Tunica County Sheriff's department says, "It will not be tolerated, zero percent toleration..."
Tunica Counties first click it or ticket it campaign was boosted by a brand new law that allows deputies to cite drivers when seat belts are not used.
It the past seat belt citations could only be given if a driver was stopped for speeding or some other offense...
Tunica Deputies and police officers began their joint seat belt campaign Thursday night and wrapped up Monday.
During that time they issued 462 citations... With most for seat belt violations. Officers also made 41 dui arrests during their sweep.
