Jury begins deliberations in Roscoe Dixon trial

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - A federal District Court jury in Memphis has begun deliberating bribery charges against former state Senator Roscoe Dixon.

Court convened briefly this morning, then jurors began their deliberations.

Dixon is accused of taking $9,500 in bribes from undercover FBI operatives who posed as lobbyists for a sham company called E-Cycle to influence legislation that favored the company. Dixon was the only witness called by the defense.

He told jurors he took FBI money, but denied doing anything illegal for it.
