Man charged in 11-year-old's death

Memphis Police charged a man Monday in connection with a shooting last week that left a 11-year-old dead.

Homicide investigators charged Montrel Javon Gilliam, 18, with first degree murder and three counts of attempted first degree murder.  Investigators said Gilliam was firing shots at another vehicle when the victims were struck by stray gunfire.

11-year-old Martez Henderson died in the shooting, and a 4-year-old child was shot.  The victims had just gotten out of a car and were walking towards an apartment complex on Leafy Hollow with their aunt when the shooting occurred.

Officials said the investigation into the shootings would continue, and additional arrests are possible.
