The University of Memphis has its' best draft night in history with 2-players taken in the first round...and back to back at that. Senior Rodney Carney is the 16th pick overall. He'll be a Philadelphia 76er after getting traded to the City of Brotherly love from the Chicago Bulls.. Carney says the 4-years spent at Memphis were worth it for this night.
Carney didn't have long to wait to see where his former Tigers front court teammate would be chosen. The Indiana Pacers took Shawne Williams with the Number-17 pick in the draft. Williams, the Conference USA Freshman of the Year, took a calculated risk in leaving the Tigers after just one season.
Through 54 of 60 picks in the draft, their teammate, guard Darius Washington, had not been chosen.
