LITTLE ROCK (AP) - Governor Huckabee says his nearly two-week
trade mission to Asia convinced him that a decision from Toyota
Corporation on the site for a new auto plant is not imminent.
Huckabee returned Friday from his visit to Korea, Japan and Taiwan.
He said that, on his visit to Japan, he met with top Toyota
executives who told him Arkansas would be in the running for an
auto plant but a decision isn't going to occur any time soon.
The governor said at a news conference today that there are a
lot of rumors floating around that Toyota is about to name a site
for a new plant, but that's simply not the case. He said the
company is always prospecting for potential sites but they have no
immediate plans and there's no target date.
