Olive Branch offers reward for capture of shooting suspect

Olive Branch police hope a $25,000 reward helps get them the information they need to find the man who shot two officers. Memphis Crime Stoppers is adding an additional $1,000 to the reward.

The officers were wounded after they spotted a suspicious car early Thursday morning around a paint shop on Old Goodman Road near the city park. When they pulled the car over, its driver opened fire.

Officer Doug Stanek was shot once. He was treated at the hospital and released. Four-year veteran officer Mark Ayers was shot twice. He remains in the hospital in critical condition.

Major Don Gammage said Thursday's incident marked the first time any Olive Branch police officer has been shot in the line of duty.
