Church erects giant statue in Hickory Hill

It's like a piece of New York in Hickory Hill.

In just days, a Memphis church will unveil a 72-foot version of the Statue of Liberty at the corner of Kirby and Winchester. Named "The Statue of Liberation Through Christ," the monument towers over most buildings nearby. It belongs to World Overcomers Outreach Ministries Church.

Pastor Alton Williams says he hopes the statue becomes a tourist attraction and inspires people not only to pray, but to pay and spend some time doing business in the neighborhood.

The Hickory Hill version of the statue of Liberty is a little different than the one on Ellis Island. "The Statue of Liberations Through Christ" holds a cross instead of a torch and the Ten Commandments instead of a tablet.
