Billy Richmond/Grizzlies Try to Make a Match

Call him a Basketball Gypsie...

Call him a Nomad...

Whatever you call Billy Richmond..he's always been colorful as the Memphis

Grizzlies are set to find out.

The Grizzlies opened their Rookie-Free Agent Camp today at FedExForum, and there was Richmond. looking every bit the physical specimen he was when he left the Memphis Tigers in 2003.

the 6'5" former Hamilton High star bounced around at 4-colleges during his career.

He says he belongs in the NBA...and is ready to do what's necessary to get there.

Richmond says he's learned a lot about himself, including his difficulty getting along with coaches. He says he's had to become more humble, but believes in his ability to contribute athletically, and be a team leader.

Coach Mike Fratello says the Grizzlies are up-front with any Free Agent they bring to Camp about the possibilities of actually making the club, but added the Grizz have scouted Richmond for some time, including his days at Memphis, and wouldn't have brought him in if they feel he didn't deserve an opportunity.

Grizz Camp continues with 2-A-Days till Friday when the squad will be pared down for the L.A. Summer Pro League which tips off Saturday night.
