Sports Illustrated "Swimsuit Issue" may come to Memphis

The birthplace of Rock and Roll could soon play host to the world's most popular magazine issue, as Sports Illustrated may soon feature Memphis in its annual "Swimsuit Issue."

Sources told Action News 5 Tuesday that the publication was considering both Graceland and Sun Studio as possible locations for the shoot.  "We certainly hope that they will join the many other publications, film projects, and television shows that shoot here," said Sharon Fox O'Guin of the Deputy Film Commission, "but it's not a done deal."
The Sports Illustrated "Swimsuit Issue," an annual tradition dating back 43 years, hits newsstands stands in February.

A spokesperson for the magazine said it was the largest selling single issue of a magazine in the world.  The magazine would not confirm or deny plans to come to Memphis.

This would not be the first time a national magazine featured the city in a special issue.  From Rolling Stone to Vanity Fair, the city has been featured multiple times in large spreads.  However, many agree that this visit could be a bit more revealing.
