West Tennessee athlete drowns in swimming accident

JACKSON, Tenn. (AP) - A West Tennessee football player has drowned while swimming with friends.

17-year-old Detris Willis, a starter on offense and defense at Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central High, drowned Monday, according to his high school football coach.

Willis was the brother of Mississippi linebacker Patrick Willis, the Southeastern Conference tacking leader last season.

Authorities say Willis was swimming with a group of friends in Benton County, Tennessee, when he apparently got muscle cramps.
