Hundreds gather for Rockefeller memorial

LITTLE ROCK (AP) - A son of Lieutenant Governor Win Rockefeller told more than one-thousand mourners at a memorial service in Little Rock today that his late father passed on to him and his brothers and sisters the same caring spirit that Rockefeller's philanthropist father had given him. Win Rockefeller Junior said his father strived to instill in his children a sense of responsibility and duty to others.

Rockefeller died Sunday at age 57 after failed treatments for a blood disorder. In the memorial service at Pulaski United Methodist Church, another son, Will Rockefeller, said he will miss his father's sense of humor, his sense of style, the camping trips, farm picnics, and just spending time with his dad.

Former president Bill Clinton and Governor Huckabee were among those at the church, which Rockefeller attended before falling ill last year, dropping out of the Republican gubernatorial primary, and leaving the state to seek treatment at a Seattle cancer center.

Clinton said after the service that he and Rockefeller met in 1969 and remained friends over the years. Clinton said that even though they were from different political parties, they were friends throughout their lives. Clinton said he was thrilled when Rockefeller decided to run for elective office.
