West Tennessee girl killed when hit by car on highway

JACKSON, Tenn. (AP) - The Highway Patrol says a seven-year-old girl was struck and killed as she walked on a dark highway near Milan.

Troopers identify the victim as Allyson Marie Easley of Old Hickory.

The Patrol says a car driven by Gary Daily of Palmersville struck the child, who was walking on U-S 45-East about 9:30 Saturday night.

The trooper's report states Dailey and his wife initially thought they had struck a deer, but stopped when they saw cars behind them pulling over.

Authorities say the girl had been staying with her grandfather for about two weeks.

The Patrol says no charges will be filed.
