Coaches Pick Tigers 3rd in C-USA East

Unlike the last 3 seasons for Memphis Tiger Football, it's anyone's guess how good they'll be this year. No DeAngelo Williams, no established quarterback, and a defense in need of improvement. That being said, Monday's pre-season Conference USA poll seems fair enough. The Coaches pick Memphis to finish 3rd in the East behind Central Florida and Southern Miss. The Tigers are filled with question marks heading into the 2006 season. But Tommy West says almost all of his players are healthy again and they'll be ready to go come August.

"I'm looking forward to it really. We have to find ways to run the ball. We have to throw it more and lean on the defense. It's a different year with different challenges," West said Monday at a luncheon for the Tiger Scholarship Fund.

The coaches pick Central Florida to repeat as the champs in the East.
