Police capture man wanted in 2003 murder

Tuesday, police received a break in a murder investigation spanning nearly three years.  On September 11, 2003, West Memphis police officer Michael Waters crashed his patrol car while chasing three men suspected of robbing a convenience store.
Two of the suspects are currently serving time for their crimes, while one, Otis Vernell Graham, disappeared after being granted bond.

The Mid-South Fugitive Task Force tracked Graham to St. Louis, where he was arrested early Tuesday by U.S. Marshals.  Graham is charged with first degree murder and felony theft, for the armed robbery of a grocery store and Officer Waters' death.

Officer Waters was killed when his squad car flipped over on I-55 while chasing Graham and his two accomplices.  Graham struck a plea agreement in court and was sentenced to eight years in prison, but disappeared when it was time to go to jail.
