More than 100 calls received from families of missing persons

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - The claims of Robert Charles Browne that he killed 49 people have led to a flood of anguished calls from the families and friends of people missing around the nation, some for years.

El Paso County Sheriff's spokesman Lieutenant Clif Northam says that by last night, more than 100 calls had been received.

Fifty-three-year-old Browne claims to have killed 49 people between 1970 and 1995, including a woman from Arkansas.

Browne was arrested for the murder of 13-year-old Health Dawn Church in Colorado, and he is serving a life sentence for her murder.

Browne would be one of the nation's worst serial killers if all or most of his claims prove to be true.
