Fire Erupts in Two Buildings on Brooks Road and Third Street

Investigators say the first fire broke out after an explosion Friday afternoon at the Pro-Serve chemical plant. Firefighters put it out last night. Early this morning fire broke out at Pro-Serve again. Fire was also reported at Industrial Biocides Corporation, the business next door to Pro-Serve. Investigators have not determined if Friday's fire sparked the fire at Industrial Biocides.

All of fires were out as of 5pm Saturday. "The foam application has worked," said Memphis Fire Director Richard Arwood." But officials also warn that the fires have been re-igniting.

They caution neighbors to steer clear of the area around Brooks Road and Third Street. Cars that ignored road blocks and drove through the smoke put off by the fires had be be decontaminated.
