The 2003 PGA Championship is a distant memory for Memphian Shaun Micheel. His first and only win was a Major, quite an incredible feat. But he quickly went back to obscurity the next two years before showing signs of regaining his terrific iron play this summer. Now Micheel is in the hunt for a second major, tied for 5th at the 2006 PGA Championship.
Micheel came into the 3rd round 3 strokes off the lead and quickly made some noise on the front shooting a 6 under 30. He posted a 37 on the back, finishing with a 3rd round 67 to get to 10 under for the tournament.
He's tied for 5th heading into the final round. But he's trailing the best in the business: Tiger Woods. He shot a scorching 7 under Saturday. He's 4 strokes better than Micheel at 14 under. Luke Donald is also tied with Tiger at 14 under.
