MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Northwest Airlines has resumed charging for a third piece of checked luggage.
The airline, which operates a hub in Memphis, Tenn., joined others nationwide two weeks ago when it suspended an $80 charge to coach passengers wishing to check a third bag.
The move was to allow passengers to adjust to new security restrictions.
Northwest spokesman Kurt Ebenhoch said the fee was re-instated on Monday.
The new rules were put in place after British officials thwarted an alleged plot to bomb U.S.-bound planes.
Most liquids, gels and lotions are now banned in carry-on bags.
United and American Airlines have also resumed charging for a third bag.
