Tigers Final Scrimmage Pleases Coach

If Wednesday's scrimmage is any indication, look for the Memphis Tigers to put the ball in the air at least 35-to-40 times a game once the season begins.

All three quarterbacks, Martin Hankins, Will Hudgens, and Patrick Byrne worked on their quick drop back game early...skipping the ball out to the U of M's bevy of receivers to let them do the Bulk of the work..

Not all passes were caught, but some that were are of the spectacular variety, like a 38-yard bomb to Freshman wideout Duke Calhoun of Raleigh-Egypt..who grabbed it between two defenders for a Touchdown.

Coach Tommy West does mix in some runs to keep things honest..

Former Millington star Miguel Barnes with the bulk of the carries while Head Coach Tommy West rests feature back Joseph Doss of Melrose.

Afterward, West gave his oppinion of the final scrimmage of Pre-Season Camp, saying he was excited the way this team has come together, getting better and better through each scrimmage.

Penalties were a minimum, as were busted assignments.  West says the teams' mental preparation was surprising given the end of camp when legs and minds are tired.

The Field Goal Kicking duel looks to be a battle of underclassmen to replace Memphis' All-Time Leading Scorer Stephen Gostkowski.

Sophomore Trey Adams of E.C.S., and Freshman Matt Reagan of Knoxville Bearden, both were perfect on attempts up to 41-yards out..

The Tigers Kickoff the Season at Ole Miss on September 3rd.
