Former Tigers Kicker Wins Patriots Job

Stephen Gostkowski, the former Memphis Tigers Kicker, is the NEW plackekicker for the NFL New England Patriots.

The Pats released veteran Martin Gramatica Wednesday, giving the job to the Rookie.

The fourth-round draft choice from Memphis won the competition by going 4-for-5 on field goals, two covering 37 yards and another 33, plus hitting all extra points.

Gramatica didn't play in the last two exhibition games.

Gostkowski now has the task of making Patriots fans forget about future Hall of Fame Kicker Adam Vinatieri, who signed with the Colts as a Free Agent in the offseason.
