Bredesen returns to Capitol after two-week illness

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Governor Bredesen was back at the capitol Monday for the first time since going to the emergency room with flu-like symptoms two weeks earlier.

Speaking at a news conference today, Breseden told reporters he'll "be on limited duty" for while.

Bredesen and his physician told reporters it still seemed that the governor had suffered from a tick-borne illness, but Bredesen said doctors were never able to give him a diagnosis and he's not sure he'll ever know what made him fall ill.

He went to a Nashville hospital on August 14th with headaches and a high fever.

The was hospitalized for four days, then went to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota for further examination.

His doctor said today the 62-year-old Bredesen has recovered nearly all of his vigor.
