Como man killed in gin mishap

HERNANDO, Miss. (AP) - A Como died Thursday after being pinned between a truck and a forklift at the cotton gin on state Highway 304 west of Hernando.

DeSoto County Coroner Jeffrey Pounders says Ben Bowie was helping with the removal of a tank from a truck and somehow he got caught between the forklift and the rear of the truck.

The 52-year-old Bowie was airlifted to the Regional Medical Center at Memphis, where he died.

Chief Deputy Steve Atkinson says the tank was a portable gasoline tank, but large enough that it had to be moved with a forklift.
