Replacing DeAngelo Williams in the back field seems like it won't be that big of a deal after all. At least if the Ole Miss game is any indication. Joe Doss's performance as the number one back was stellar. He gained 112 yards on the ground, averaging nearly 5 yards a carry. That's better than DeAngelo did against the Rebels last year...never mind the Tigers couldn't really pass the ball in 2005. But Doss has emerged as leader on this team after backing Williams up the last two seasons. Head coach Tommy West says he was really impressed with his all around play in Saturday's loss to Ole Miss.
'He was good with the ball and tremendous without the ball. Some of the blocks he threw and the things he did in pass protection were outstanding, ' West said at his weekly luncheon Monday.
