Tigers Get First Win Of Season

The Tigers were careful not to underestimate the Chattanooga Mocs and it paid off Saturday night at the Liberty Bowl.  The Tigers won their first home game of the season 33-14 in front of nearly 35,000 fans.  The Tigers charged onto the field looking for a 4th straight Bowl season under Tommy West. And they got it in gear early on a trick play. Receiver Mario Pratcher threw a pass to quarterback Martin Hankins for a 26 yard touchdown.  It was 7-6 Mocs after a missed extra point.

In the 2nd quarter, Hankins went deep for Ernest Williams for a 40 yard gain that would set up a 30 yard Trey Adams field goal to give the Tigers the lead. Later Hankins would hit Duke Calhoun in stride, and when the foot race was over, it's was a 60 yard completion that led to another field goal.  Hankins threw for 294 yards and 1 Td. Jamarcus Gaither would add a 3 yard touchdown run before, he had two in the game.

Starting tailback, Joe Doss, left the game in the 2nd quarter with a twisted ankle. He wanted to come back in for the 2nd half but was held out just to be safe.
