Manning Bowl Goes To Peyton

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) - Peyton Manning had a little better supporting cast than Eli in the Manning Bowl. The Indianapolis Colts made fewer mistakes than the New York Giants in winning 26-to-21 in the first N-F-L game featuring two brothers starting at quarterback. Big brother Peyton was 25-of-41 for 276 yards and a touchdown. He led the Colts to scores on five of their first seven possessions. Younger brother Eli wasn't bad. He threw for 247 yards and two T-D's in the much-hyped nationally televised matchup of the sons of Archie Manning at Giants Stadium.

New Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri, the hero of two Super Bowl wins by the New England Patriots, kicked four field goals in his first game for the defending A-F-C South champions. His 32-yarder with one-12 left pushed the Colts' lead to five points. Dominic Rhodes also scored on a 1-yard run early in the fourth quarter for a 23-to-14 lead.
