To BE the best, you must BEAT the best.
That's the predicament facing Memphis native Shaun Micheel in the World Match Play Championship.
His first round opponent...Tiger Woods, the World's number one player, and winner of the last five tournaments he's played in.
It happens at Virginia Water, England... Micheel hasn't won a tournament since the 2003 PGA Championship, but he was solid today...winning four straight holes in the morning to build a lead he never gave up.
Tiger misses the putt on 11 that would've given him the win on that hole.
Then Micheel...with the magic touch...the eagle on 12 puts him 4-up.
Tiger, misses the putt on the 15th, sealing his fate.
Micheel, a former CBHS star, beats Woods 4-to-3, ending the longest winning streak of Tiger's career.
Micheel, currently ranked 77th in the world, was runner-up at Medinah last month, finishing five
shots behind Woods.
