Flu shots will be available beginning Monday, October 2 at eight Memphis and Shelby County Health Department clinics.
This year's vaccine is designed to protect against the three strains expected to cause the most problems during the flu season. Federal health officials recommend children ages six months to 5 years old receive the vaccine. Shots are also recommended for anyone 50 or older, health care workers, residents of long-term care facilities, women who are pregnant during the flu season, anyone age 18 or younger who is receiving long-term aspirin therapy, anyone with diabetes, heart or respiratory disease and other chronic health problems, and anyone who lives with or cares for those at high risk for flu complications, including healthy children.
Shots are available Monday on a first-come, first-served basis.
