TSGT Kevin Mott, U.S. Air Force

Talitha and George Thompson have followed the news closely since September 11th. Keeping track of every move the military makes. That's because their son, Kevin Mott, is a staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. George Thompson, Kevin's father says, "We talked briefly about three weeks ago and we touched basically on the subject and speaking about if he had to go overseas it's was his job to go."

Mr. Thompson knows what his son is going through. Mr. Thompson earned the Purple Heart in the Vietnam War, while serving our country some 30 years ago. Now it's his son's turn to defend our freedom. Kevin originally served in the Marine Corps Reserves, but has been a member of the Air Force for the past 14 years. For the time being, Kevin's close to home, stationed in Mississippi, but he's traveled as far as Korea. Being that far away is never easy for his mother. "I know that if they tell him he has to go, he has to go, and we'll just be prayerful and feel like that you know that God will see him through," says Talitha Thompson

Mr. and Mrs. Thompson rely on faith and pride in their son. "And he's a pretty good man, a good son. He's a good father and he tries to be a pretty good husband, Mrs. Thompson says. "He gives them his best. He gives them his best."
