(R) Mark White

Bio from Mark White's web site:

A conservative community leader, Mark White has combined hard work, innovative thinking, free-market solutions and common sense principles and values to build a successful family, business, and educational career.

Mark was born on March 11, 1950 in Union City, Tennessee.  The son of a Church of Christ Minister, Mark learned early on the values and morals of a Christian life.  Graduating from the University of Memphis in 1974, Mark was hired by the Harding Academy of Memphis to teach 5th, 6th, and 7th grade Science.  After being voted teacher of the year in 1976, he was named principal in 1977.

Thanks to this experience in the educational sector, Mark has a clear understanding of the problems parents face in pursuing a quality education for their children.  Mark's time as both a teacher and administrator informed his views on how to best fix a public education system that is by all estimation, broken.
Mark's passion for education led him to found an educational foundation that provides real educational opportunity to children in Panama.  The foundation, launched in 2001, has 68 students currently enrolled.  The foundation provides a private school education from 1st grade through college graduation.  Mark is the Director of the Foundation and checks up on the students with quarterly trips Panama.

Mark is the owner of a successful small business that employs 90 people in Memphis.  He sits on the Boards of The Collierville Chamber of Commerce, the Small Business Chamber of Commerce, and is Chairman of the National Federation of Independent Businesses in Memphis.
