9-year-old critically injured in hit-and-run

Memphis Police say a 9-year-old Evans Elementary School student has been struck in a hit-and-run at Curtis and Cottonwood.  He was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

Police are looking for a white Pontiac Grand Am.

Police tell our reporters on the scene that the boy had walked home from school, but had to return to the area at around 3:30pm to visit a nearby community center.  That is when he was struck.  They believe the missing motorist may have been driving between 50 and 60 miles per hour.

This is the third hit-and-run involving children since last Thursday.  We'll have much more on this story tonight at 10pm, including emotional reaction from people who saw it happen.
