Ashley Scott: The early investigation

Action News 5 has learned that the Homicide Bureau does not have a murder weapon, so they do not know exactly what weapon was used in Ashley Scott's murder.

However, Lieutenant Toney Armstrong told us that the Medical Examiner's Office performed an autopsy on Scott and determined she died from a blow to the head.

They've now charged her husband, Jeffrey, with the first degree murder of the well-loved Bolton High School teacher.

Investigators say a heated argument early Thanksgiving morning led to blows.

They're still trying to confirm whether or not the couple fought over a text message, and if Scott ordered his wife to sleep in the garage overnight.

Investigators say hours after the fight, Scott called a doctor friend to check on his wife.

The doctor performed CPR and when she did not respond, Scott called 911.

"We are getting a lot of calls from people expressing concern. People who want to call and make sure the person responsible is arrested, but not necessarily tips from people who actually witnessed the incident," says Lt. Toney Armstrong.

Armstrong says they're looking for more concrete leads, like eyewitnesses.

They're also looking for more information about the couple's past.
