Over the last two weeks, it has become obvious that the Memphis area is a community with a national reputation for being among the most wide-open in the country when it comes to sexual and illegal activity in our local strip clubs.
Essentially, it's another nationwide comparison and we're again on the worst end of it. The local governments hired a consultant to bring us the bad news and two days before his report is released, law enforcement authorities stage high profile raids to close two of the worst offenders.
Well, that may be a start, but the bigger question is, "Will they finish the job?" If you don't think this is a real problem, go WMCTV.com and take another look at the interview with the stripper who used to work at the Platinum Plus Club (linked to the right).
This is not a victimless crime.
At the end of the day, we need to be honest and admit that we get the kind of community that we demand of our elected leaders and of ourselves.
