Johnson Shines in Grizzlies Defeat

Yeah, I know it's easy to look at the Memphis Grizzlies right now as the worst team in the NBA..

But, there are some clear reasons that have nothing to do with the proposed ownership change..

You're looking at 2 of them right there, with All-Star Pau Gasol, and rookie Sparkplug Kyle Lowry sidelined in street clothes with injuries...

Veteran Eddie Jones has also missed extensive time with an achilles problem..

His transition back onto the court has, well, let's just say, not gone well..

But, a new bright spot may be emerging from all this flux...

Rookie Alexander Johnson came on strong last night against Portland..

The second round draft pick from Florida State, held Blazers Big Man Zach Randolph to 4-points and NO rebounds in the second half..while grabbing 6-rebounds himself, along with 6-points.

His energy around the basket hopefully will be infectious.

Johnson and the Grizzlies host the Atlanta Hawks tomorrow night at FedExForum.

Pau Gasol could return to action after missing 22-games with a broken foot.
