Organizers for high school musical concerned with ticket sales

The tremendous popularity of a musical production is causing problems for a Mid-South Theatre.

Disney's High School Musical opens at the Desoto Civic Center next month.

But, organizers got suspicious when more than 800 tickets for the show were purchased from ticketmaster in just a few days.

"Doing a little investigation, we found out that oh they've been bought by all these broker websites,,, and all these for up to $80 and $100 per ticket," says show director, Kevin Shaw.

While some online sites are selling them for top dollar, Action News 5 found tickets on for $18; that's how much they go for at the Civic Center.

Organizers believe some brokers are getting top dollar for tickets because they're leading customers to believe they'll see the professional touring company instead of local actors.

They say the best way to avoid any confusion is to buy tickets directly from the DeSoto County Civic Center box office.
