Campus Crime Report 1/23/07

From locker room larceny to an early morning stick-up, students and staff at Mid-South schools fell victim to crime last week and have fallen victim to crime this week.

Parents got caught behaving badly at Wooddale High. Two mothers got into a fist fight over their children. Police issued the women citations and they were told not to come back to Wooddale.

A staff member tried to break up a fight at Mitchell High and got hit in the back of the head.

Southaven police arrested five students at Southaven High for disturbances.

Police report fight calls at the following schools: DeSoto Central High, Germantown High, Mt. Pisgah Middle, Oakhaven, Sherwood Middle, Southaven Middle, Stafford Elementary and Westwood High.

Two students at Southwind Middle School were arrested for disorderly conduct.

The girl's basketball team at Westwood High hit the court while thieves hit the locker room.

One of the players went back to the locker room and caught three thieves in the act. Police reports show the thieves were taking the players cash, jewelry and cell phones.

Someone stole cash and an iPod from an student at Arlington High, a thief broke in to the office at Carver High School and took off with an I-B-M ThinkPad laptop worth $1,500.

Police reports also show thefts at Goodlett Elementary, Fairley High, Kipp Diamond Academy, Pleasant View Elementary and Wooddale Middle.

A staff member was trying to open up Ridgeway Elementary for school one morning when two men drove up and tried to rob him. The victim ran inside the school and locked the door. The would-be robbers drove away empty handed.

A Kirby High student was arrested for getting caught with a razor blade at school. Reports show she had it attached to a Mickey Mouse lanyard and told officers she needed it to protect herself from other female students.

Police responded to a weapons call at Treadwell when a student who was supposed to be on suspension was caught on campus with a knife trying to fight classmates.

Police found marijuana on students at the following schools: Geeter Middle, Germantown High, Ridgeway High and Sheffield High.

And there were reports of vandalism at Briarcrest and Fairley High Schools.
