JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - The College Board says it will consider recommendations on making a college education more affordable. Board commissioner Thomas C- Meredith says today the College Board's tuition task force is expected to submit its recommendations by mid-month.
The recommendations are to be considered by the College Board at its April board meeting. The state's public universities received level or declining state-appropriated funds between 2000 and 2006 due to a state revenue shortage.
To make up for lost funding and due to the increasing number of students, the universities, with the board's approval, have been increasing tuition by about 50 percent since 2000.
