Workman execution set for May despite another failed motion for delay

A motion to either cancel or reset the execution date for convicted killer Philip Workman was denied today.

Workman has been on death row for nearly 25-years for the 1981 murder of Memphis Police Lieutenant Ronald Oliver.

Workman is scheduled to be executed May 9th. But, a motion filed a few days ago called for that date to be vacated, citing Governor Phil Bredesen's concerns about executions in Tennessee.

The state Supreme Court denied the motion, meaning Workman's execution will be carried out on May 9th.
