City enforces pit bull ordinance, two animals put down

ROSEDALE, Miss. (AP) - Two pit bulls that were taken into custody under Boliver County's county's pit bull ordinance have been euthanized.

The dogs were found penned on Rosedale city property. Rosedale is one of many cities to recently enact laws aimed at protecting people from potentially dangerous dogs.

Rosedale Police Chief Isaac Morris said the dogs were taken by the Bolivar County Sheriff's Department Animal Control Officer Jerry Hopson.

He says -- quoting here -- He took them into custody because the owners didn't follow the guidelines for pit bulls and, in addition, they were on city property. (
