Southaven man convicted in child fondling case

HERNANDO, Miss. (AP) - A Southaven man will be sentenced next Wednesday after being convicted of fondling an 11-year-old girl.

Forty-six year-old Jeffery Richardson was convicted Thursday of fondling his girlfriend's daughter after a two-day trial before DeSoto County Circuit Judge Bobby Chamberlin.

Richardson faces a sentence of from two to 15 years in prison.

Richardson testified that he touched the girl, but he told the jurors that he had "no lustful purpose" in touching her.
